Questions about a calculation, ideas for a tool the site is missing, or a number that looks wrong — all welcome. Email is the way to reach me.

What to expect

I read everything and reply to most messages within a couple of days. Calculation questions get the fullest answers when they include the numbers you entered and the result you expected — the same details the error report form asks for, which is the fastest route if a calculator itself is misbehaving.

Suggestions for new calculators are genuinely how this site grows: the sashing and half-square triangle tools exist because quilters asked for the arithmetic they were doing on envelope backs. If there is a fabric calculation you repeat, tell me about it.

Corrections

If you believe a formula, chart figure or worked example on the site is wrong, please say so — with your source, if you have one. Corrections from readers are credited in spirit and applied in fact: the site's promise is that every number can be traced to a published method, and a claim that survives checking makes the whole toolbox better. The editorial policy sets out how sources are weighed when they disagree.

Requests from teachers, guilds and shops

Quilt teachers, guild program chairs and shop owners are welcome to link to any calculator here in class handouts, newsletters and pattern notes — no permission needed, and a link back is all the credit asked. If you teach a class around one of the methods on this site (Flynn's diagonal backing comes up often), I am glad to hear how the numbers landed with your students.

What I can't do by email: calculate a full project's fabric for you from a pattern PDF, or check commercial patterns pre-publication. The calculators themselves will answer most project questions faster than I can — every page shows its method, so your own figures can be verified line by line.

Privacy, briefly

Email you send is used only to read and reply, is never added to a mailing list, and is never shared. The full details live in the privacy policy. If you would rather not email at all, the error report form needs no address unless you want a reply.
