Privacy Policy

The short version

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are never sent to a server, logged, or shared.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz, to count anonymous usage such as page views and calculator use. When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense may also set advertising cookies, as described below. There are no user accounts on this site.

How the calculators process information

All calculations — quilt backing panels and yardage, diagonal backing lengths, batting sizes, binding strips, border lengths, sashing pieces, block counts, quilt sizes, and half-square triangle cut sizes — are performed by JavaScript running locally in your browser. Calculator inputs (quilt dimensions, fabric widths, block counts, and every other value you type) are never transmitted anywhere, never stored, and are gone when you close the page.

Hosting

This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like essentially all web hosts, Cloudflare processes technical request logs (such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamps) to deliver pages, protect against abuse, and operate its service. This site does not receive or store individualized logs of your visit beyond what Cloudflare provides in aggregate.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz (Cloudflare's tag manager), to understand which tools and pages are useful. GA4 records page views and usage events (for example, "a calculator was used" or "results were copied"), along with device and browser type, approximate location at city or country level, and the referring page. GA4 uses first-party cookies (_ga and related identifiers) to distinguish visits; this data is sent to Google. It does not receive anything you type into the calculators. Google's own handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy.

This site also uses Ahrefs Web Analytics, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz (Cloudflare's tag manager), which records page views, referrers, and rough device and browser information. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies and does not identify individual visitors across sites. Ahrefs' handling of this data is described in Ahrefs' privacy policy.

Analytics events never include the quilt dimensions, fabric widths, block counts, or any other values you enter — only that a tool was used. No names, emails, addresses, or precise locations are collected by either service on this site's behalf.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's official opt-out browser add-on, or block both services with any standard ad-blocking or tracking-protection browser extension — every part of this site works fully without them.

Cookies

Google Analytics 4 sets standard first-party cookies (_ga and related identifiers) to measure aggregate visits. Ahrefs Web Analytics is cookieless and sets none. These analytics cookies are the only cookies in use on this site unless advertising is enabled (see the next section). The calculators themselves do not use cookies or browser storage — nothing you enter is saved between visits.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

When advertising is enabled on this site, Google AdSense may serve ads and set advertising cookies (for example, to personalize ads and measure their performance). Google's use of advertising cookies is described in Google's advertising policy pages. If ads are not enabled, no advertising cookies are set.

Error-report form

The Report an Error form runs entirely in your browser. When you submit it, the form composes an email addressed to the site owner containing the details you entered — either opening it in your own email app, or showing you the composed report to copy and send yourself. Nothing is submitted to a server by the form, and no email is sent unless you send it.

The data controller for this website is the site owner, Ian Welkins. If you email ianwelkins@gmail.com, the address and content you send go to the site owner. They are used only to read and reply to your message, are not added to any mailing list, and are not shared with third parties.
